New Werk

The semester is over! Here are two pieces that were made this semester and one old favorite. Enjoy!

At the beginning of the semester someone said to me, “if you have time to train for a 10-mile run, then you aren’t spending enough time in the studio.” That statement deeply frustrated me. Out of determination and sheer will I worked 2 part time jobs, had work in 4 different galleries and shows, participated in and trained for a 5k and a 15k, won a design competition for the Fleisher Founder’s Award and made stellar work for all four of my studio classes.

I did all of that in one semester and I think I did a pretty awesome job.

  1. awesome pieces! did you carve that elephant ring in wax? crazy. i went to a jewelry class for a few months last year.. while i learned making jewelry isn’t really my thing, i gained a huge appreciation for metallurgy/jewelry making. i saw your post about slicing your finger & getting silver dust all over your lap. so true. i probably broke about 30 saw blades in two months.. ugh.

also, i’m really jealous of your glass making/running marathons and stuff.

ps. i found my way to your blog via chrissy’s… this is samantha strock, we both went to annville, sweet!
